05 Jan Did I fail or am I learning?
Every now and again we all go through a period of self-reflection and introspection to hopefully arrive at a revelation or what many would call “resolution”. For many, this process usually comes at the start of a new year or a birthday. The process itself can be daunting as we evaluate our lives, actions, choices and our current circumstances. Feelings of failure, hopelessness and doubt, tend to creep up in these moments, stealing our joy and peace of mind.
Yup we’ve all fallen victim to those thoughts. But what if I told you that those negative thoughts are lies from the pit of hell? “Failure is only a lesson waiting to be discovered.” But in order to move forward, we must first review the lessons we’ve learnt. Review them though in the context of God’s Word. What do I mean by that? Well first we must start by knowing what the Word of God says about us and our journey.
I personally find comfort in the scripture Philippians 1:6-7: Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Christ Jesus.” This means, God is not finished with us yet and so he’s taking us through a process. A process filled with highs and lows, setbacks and victories, all divinely designed to strengthen us for a great purpose. Also, in Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,” which means that His plans are greater than our current or past circumstances. Yes, he has a great plan for your life even if you don’t feel it, your feelings won’t change this truth. I don’t know about you, but this gives me a peace in knowing that once I’m in His will then “All is Well.” I no longer measure my accomplishments by “man’s standards” because I believe I’m right where God wants me to be growing, learning and oh yes, prospering. If you’re not quite there yet, then I encourage you to read the scriptures yourself, let it minister to your spirit as you find the strength to move forward “guilt free.”
May you be strengthened and inspired as you walk boldly in faith. Go with God and “let your light shine.”
